Late-over

Definition of a Late-over:

A late night with friends where you get to play past your bedtime, eat treats and have lots of fun!

Whit's friend, Annie, came over and we hosted our first ever late-over.

We made some yummy blueberry cupcakes from Martha Stewarts Living magazine. They were delicious!
{I have already made them twice in 2 weeks they were that good.}

We gave the kids facials..
{Hank always gets to do all the girly stuff.}
{Also, to my surprise, they actually laid there for quite a while with the cucumbers on while we made them listen to calming music.. haha. It was funny.}

 Pedicures..
{This kid is almost 2 and he still has that dang bottle. I'm not excited to fight that battle.}

And fingernails..

We drank some Root beer out of the  "cool bottles"..
{according to Whitney}

And I made Hank pick up the dog poop.
{Not really, but he loves to do it.. so why not let him try?}
{Every week when I pick up the poop he follows me around the yard and points out where it all is.. He is the best lil helper. ;)}

Grandma Donna's

Ever since I can remember, Sunday nights were spent at grandma Donna’s. It was my favorite growing up. It was always a good jump start for my week...

Now with 2 little ones of my own, I can’t think of anything I would rather do then go up to grandma Donna’s, eat popsicles on summer nights and play outside.

And my kids absolutely love it.

Growing up in the summer, my cousins, siblings, and I were inseparable. Every day there was an activity and every Sunday night we played night games..way past our bedtime (poor parenting) (PS to this day.. I am still the best at capture the flag).. and then we would beg our parents to let us have a slumber party at grandma’s.

It was a good carefree simple life.

Many many many basketball games have been played on grandma’s court. (I was a major tomboy for a couple of years.) And we decided to try and “re-live” those carefree days by playing a little game.

Me and Scoot VS Ali and Kyle.
Recap of the very disappointing game:
1. I am really out of shape.. Basketball is energy draining.
2. Ali is a lot better than I remembered.
3. I picked the teams, picking Scooter because I thought, for sure, it would be an easy win.
4. We totally lost and Ali made the winning shot.. Not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed out.

But the best part about the whole night, was watching the 3rd generation kids sit on the sidelines as they cheered us on and as we watch them now create their own “Grandma Donna Sunday Night Memories.”

They are the best kind of memories any kid could have!

Family Fireworks

With our limited time with Danny, we really try and make every second count.
Not that fireworks are that special, but they are special to our kids because they get to do them with their dad.
Danny bought some fireworks in Nevada. Not sure if they are all legal...

The pooping puppy.

The pooping chicken. It poops out a balloon. Pretty awesome, right? ;)

Danny and Jason had a Harry Potter wand duel with the fireworks as they screamed out HP incantations..

Every year for Pioneer Day we have breakfast with the Hart clan up at Brighton:

Followed by an evening barbecue and fire works at Scott and Lori's:

And somewhere in between, we also managed to go see Brave.
..And to my complete surprise, Hank sat through 90% of the movie. I was shocked! Darling movie, BTW.

Dad was out of town, bummer, but thank goodness for lots and lots of family to play with!
We had a fun-filled busy day!

Cabin Painting

Danny’s family's cabin needed a new paint job so a couple of weekends ago we went up to help paint and play.. Well I didn’t do any of the painting but Danny and his family did. I played with the kids and kept them away from the painters as much as possible as we hiked, played at the ponds, and even found a snake.
It was a fun day.
The mountains are so beautiful this time of year.

The morning of handsome Hank served his dadda Mcdonald's breakfast in bed.. We're real high end at our house.. and healthy! ;).. And actually now that I remember, Hank dropped the food at the foot of the bed and Muffins ate it all.. so he really didn't get breakfast in bed after all. Sorry Dan!

Playing at the ponds.

Finding a snake with cousin Emily.

I set Hank up with a paint brush and some water and he went to town painting the tree.
